Hands in the Soil, Roots in the City — Conservation Begins at Your Front Door

We don't just think about conservation differently — we live it. Holon Gardens transforms front yards into native micro-sanctuaries, turning everyday stewardship into systemic ecological change.

Community Voices

Real stories from stewards transforming their neighborhoods through micro-conservation.

I donated a portion of my small front yard on a 5,000 sq ft lot as a conservation plan in 2025. Holon’s team has thoughtfully designed, tilled, and planted native species that are now blooming through our extreme climate events, droughts, and challenging soil.

As a beekeeper, Holon’s plan for landscape conservation is not only responsible stewardship for our environment, it is important for our legacy, our children and community.

I can’t say enough about this concept, movement, and action.

Dr. Ford’s garden in Houston’s historic Third Ward is part of the Holon network. Her front yard conservation site demonstrates how micro-conservation works in communities disproportionately affected by flooding and environmental neglect—turning a 5,000 sq ft lot into a node of ecological resilience.

The front yard is not a cosmetic choice. It is the single most underutilized site for ecological, social, and economic transformation in the built environment.

Five Revolutions, One Front Yard

Every garden we plant simultaneously advances five systemic transformations

🌿

Ecology

Native micro-sanctuaries restore biodiversity, capture stormwater, and sequester carbon at the hyperlocal scale.

🤝

Society

Shared stewardship creates trust-based bonds between neighbors, rebuilding the social fabric from the ground up.

🎨

Culture

Every converted lawn challenges the monoculture aesthetic and redefines beauty as living, interdependent complexity.

💰

Economy

Gardens eliminate mowing costs, increase property values, and create local green-economy jobs.

🏛

Politics

Community-owned ecological data shifts governance from top-down regulation to bottom-up participation.
