About the Distributed Nursery

A network of neighborhood growers, not a centralized institution.

What It Is

The Holon Distributed Nursery is a peer-to-peer network where community members propagate, grow, and share native plants adapted to our regional ecotypes. Instead of relying on industrial nurseries that source from unknown origins, we grow locally-adapted seed stock and connect growers directly with stewards.

Every plant in the network is verified for native status and ecotype appropriateness. Our marketplace allows buying, trading, and giftingβ€”creating economic and social relationships around plant stewardship.

Why It Matters

  • βœ“ Local Ecotypes: Plants adapted to our climate, soil, and rainfall
  • βœ“ Bypass Industrial Markup: Direct from grower to steward
  • βœ“ Community Relationships: Build connections through shared plant care
  • βœ“ Economic Resilience: Money stays in the community
  • βœ“ Verified Quality: Every listing meets our standards
